Mak-a-Mini Childcare is a non-profit society that offers daycare and preschool programs for children aged 1-5. Our vision is to provide safe, caring, and engaging play experiences that support children’s creativity and collaborative exploration of their environment.

Mak-a-Mini’s programs are based on the constructivist philosophy of learning and incorporate educational technology to meet the principles of Early Learning. The daycare and preschool programs are play-based, guided by child-led experiences, and take into account the age and developmental needs of each child. The programs focus on fostering emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development and use various methods to assess children’s learning and development.

Mak-a-Mini childcare is seeking a passionate and dedicated Childcare Educator to join our team at our brand new daycare center. As a Childcare Educator, you will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children in our care. You will work alongside other educators to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum to meet the needs of each child.
 

Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities (Including but not limited to the following):

  • Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on the standards and procedures of the Centre.
  • Design and implement a safe environment using creative activities that are inclusive, intellectually stimulating and developmentally appropriate and based on observations of children’s interests and skills.
  • Carry out personal care routines to meet the needs of each child. (Serve meals, change diapers/toileting needs, hand wash, setting up/taking down nap time, etc.)
  • Ensure that classroom lessons run smoothly through the use of effective classroom management and redirection techniques that keep students safe, engaged, interested, and on task.
  • Maintain an ongoing developmental record using Lillio the daily class interaction based on the Flight Framework.
  • Communicate and meet with parents/guardians to discuss relevant updates about their child’s and/or Mak-a-Mini policies and events.
  • Report any concerns/emergencies/incidents to the Childcare Supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned are deemed necessary to support colleagues in their roles or support the organization in achieving its goals and objectives.   

Education and Experience

  • Early Childhood Educator Level 3 Certification (Child Development Worker) preferred
  • At least 3 years Early childhood education experience is a must
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • Police check – Vulnerable Sector
